Grammar Point

A Keyphrase should be a short phrase that brings to mind and helps to remember the information on this frame.
どころか

far from, anything but, not at all ... but rather ..., not ..., on the contrary, ..., instead of, rather than

Verb / Adjective / Noun + どころか

Used to express that a situation is far from what is expected, often followed by something even more extreme or contrary to the first statement. It emphasizes that not only is the first part not true, but the reality is actually much worse or completely different.

Verb (informal)

Used with the dictionary form of a verb to show that the action is far from being realized.

Far from walking, I can't even stand up.

い-Adjective

Used with い-Adjectives to contrast the current state with an opposite or more extreme state.

Far from being busy, I have too much free time.

な-Adjective stem

Used with the stem of a な-Adjective. The particle な is sometimes retained depending on the speaker, but the dictionary form without だ is standard.

Far from being quiet, it was very noisy.

Noun

Used directly with a noun to state that the object is anything but what was mentioned.

Far from being a medicine, it is a poison.

Note

When using Nouns or な-Adjectives, do not use だ before どころか. This grammar point is often used with phrases like 'not even' or 'not at all' to emphasize a negative result or a surprising contrast.
